I. Objectives:
The student will:

II. Materials:
1- “Oceans and sea” by Nicola Davies
2- 4 shoe boxes
3- Crayons
4- paint
5- sea plastic animals
6- picture of coral reefs
III. Activities:
Routine :
The teacher will greet the students. The teacher will ask the students about the date and write it down on the board. The teacher will ask the students about the weather and tell one of them to check it, by looking out the window. The students will then sing the “Weather Song”.
Beginning:
The teacher will explore her students’ previous knowledge about sea animals. To activate the previous knowledge she will read the informational book “Oceans and Sea” by Nicola Davies. After reading it, she will begin a discussion with the children on what they know about the ocean. Guide Questions can include the following:
- Where are the oceans located?
- What animals live in the ocean?
- How deep is the ocean?
The teacher will write the answers on the board. Also, she will make a list of the animals they know, previous to the reading.
Development:
The students will create a sea diorama. They will be divided into four groups. The teacher will give each group a box, sea plastic animals, sand, paints and markers. For this activity the students will have to use their imagination and creativity. To stimulate their imagination, the teacher will give to each group a paper with some pictures of coral reefs. This is an example of what they can make:
Conclusion:
The students will write a few sentences about their sea diorama. Also, they will present their works to the rest of the group. They will explain what the diorama has (contains) and mention the animals included in it.
