Animals Fair


Day: 5

Grade: 3rd

Topic: The Animal Fair

 

I. Objectives:

          The students and parents will:

1-     Value and appreciate the projects the students have made in their English class.

 

II. Materials:

1-     Snacks

2-    Napkins

3-    Movies

4-    Wild Animal Puppets

5-    Forest Animal (Owl) Masks

6-    Sea Animal I.D.

7-    Animal Sets

 

 

 

III. Activities :

 

The group of twenty four children will be divided into three sub groups, where eight students will represent one group of “animals”.  Each student will use a representative token to identify the group they represent.

 

a)     Wild Animal Area:

 

          The students representing the Wild Animals will wear the wild animal puppets they created in a previous class as a necklace. The decoration theme of the wild Animal Area will be a grassland and savanna inspired background. The movie “Madagascar” which Is about wild animals will be playing, and the snack being offered to the parents and students is wild animal vanilla cookies. Each section of the area will feature student’s animal profiles and other projects related to the topic, so the parents can appreciate the work of their children.  The activity that will be featured in this area will be, that the students and parents will work together to solve a puzzle which contains all the letters of the alphabet. Each letter is made in the shape of a wild animal. The students and their parents have to put the alphabet letters in the correct order.

 

b)    Forest Animal Area:

 

          The eight students representing this group will wear owl masks, previously created by them as part of a previous class. The decoration theme of the Forest Animal Area will have a banner, leaves, flowers, logs, and small pine trees. The display of students class work will be divided into four: first the “Important Bear Facts” Area, then “My favorite Forest Animal” area, “Forest Animal Sounds” area, and “Owl Facts” area. All of these are samples of the class work the students have previously done in class. The movie that will be playing in the Forest Animal “Movie Area” is “Open Season”; where the parents and students will have the opportunity to sit on bean bags and enjoy delicious home- made honey pops, manufactured by the students and the teacher.

 

c)     Sea Animal Area:

 

          The students representing this group, will have a fish tag, which the students made in a previous class, the fish tag is like a name tag made in different fish shapes and sizes. The decoration of this area will be an under the sea theme, there will be fish dangling form the roof. The movie that will be playing in the background is “Finding Nemo”, a movie about a fish and other sea animals. The snack being offered in this area are cheesy Gold Fish crackers. The activity that the parents and students will make is color a work sheet of a dolphin in the sea, each drawing has a number on it. The students and parents must color it with the given legend.
